Welcome to London Bridge Hospital

London Bridge Hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in the country, providing complex and acute care across all medical specialties, for patients within the UK and from around the world. We’re at the cutting-edge of medicine, performing procedures such as living donor renal and liver transplants, and stem cell transplants for blood cancers and multiple sclerosis.

We’re able to provide such complex care in every specialty due to the eminent consultants – leaders in their fields of medicine – who choose to practice here. These distinguished men and women are supported by sub-specialised teams of nurses and other healthcare professionals so that care can be provided at the highest levels of complexity, standards and safety.

Mr Parthi

Our consultants, London's leaders

Respected by their peers, the consultants working with us in our hospital are leaders in their specialist fields, and many are recognised for their outstanding contributions to medicine. They often manage departments and clinical teams in distinguished London teaching hospital institutions, including St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. So, our consultants are not only highly skilled in the latest treatments and technologies – they’re the ones pioneering them.

Multidisciplinary teams by specialty

Unusually among private hospitals, we can provide diagnostics and treatments across almost every medical discipline. For all our main specialties – including cardiac careoncologyorthopaedicsgastroenterology and many more – our consultants and all specialised healthcare professionals involved in each patients’ care, meet regularly as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) framework. At every meeting, specialists shine a light on a patient’s condition, highlight any risks, and decide on the best course of action. This collaborative approach ensures: strong governance, safer practice, an abundance of shared knowledge, and the latest medicine, deployed safely.

The latest medicine transforming lives today

At our hospital, you’ll find the very latest proven treatments, advanced surgical techniques and state-of-the-art technology in the hands of skilled and specialised multidisciplinary teams. We’ve been at the forefront of world-class private healthcare since 1986, and continue to welcome patients from around the world today – some searching for procedures such as PEARS to fix a dilated aorta: a ground breaking cardiac surgery that can transform lives.

The facilities for complex care

To practice complex care, teams need an environment in which all patients can be properly supported. That’s why we have 22 Level 3 intensive care beds, offering the highest acuity care for patients with multi-organ failure. That means constant observation and treatment for critically ill patients with one nurse for one patient. So, when other private hospitals might rush patients to an NHS hospital, we would take care of them right here.

We invest in the latest technologies, to augment our teams’ capabilities. So, while our Da Vinci™ robot helps surgeons make prostate surgery more precise, our leading-edge cardiopulmonary bypass machines optimise the way we manage blood during heart surgeries.

Hospitals need to offer the standards and setting – including a Level Three Intensive Care Unit – where complex cardiac care can take place. This is one of the reasons I choose to practise at London Bridge Hospital.

Safe in our care

We take our time to care. Every ward has its own nurse manager, and its own team of Sisters and Charge Nurses who oversee clinical care while nurses focus on patients. With a maximum one to four nurse to patient ratio, we’re able to devote real one-to-one time to ensuring our patient’s needs are entirely met.

We’re one of the few private hospitals to have Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) across all major specialties. These are nurses who, like consultants, specialise in their fields of medicine. Alongside deep medical knowledge, they offer a huge amount of support for our patients and their families.

The Care Quality Commission  (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England, gave our hospital its highest rating of ‘Outstanding’ in 2017. The CQC remarked that they saw:

“Innovative practice throughout the hospital including new research in theatre, new infection prevention and control practices, and safer medicines management.”

The London Bridge Hospital facility

London Bridge Hospital’s campus

Like many large hospitals, London Bridge Hospital is a campus of buildings, the main four areas being within easy reach of each other: London Bridge Hospital main site with both outpatients and inpatients; Private Care at Guy’s, our state-of-the-art cancer centre; a large outpatients centre in The Shard, and our walk in Urgent Care Centre for patients with minor injuries. An additional outpatient clinic can be found at Canary Wharf. Each site has its own services, reception and registration process for the specialised care they provide.

Accredited Centres of Excellence

As you’d expect in a multispecialty hospital, alongside our CQC rating of Outstanding, we have a long list of accreditations that recognise our excellence across our different specialist fields of medicine. This includes a hard-to-achieve accreditation from the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), recognising us a centre with the facilities and expertise to offer advanced surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis.
We’re one of nine accredited centres, and one of only two fully private hospitals in London to achieve this accreditation. And our stem cell transplant unit is one of only a handful of JACIE-accredited private institutions, having demonstrated the required global standards of excellence, both clinically and in laboratory practice. London Bridge Hospital is a certified AOSpine Centre, one of the only private hospitals in the country to achieve this prestigious accreditation.

London Bridge Hospital management team

London Bridge Hospital’s Executive Team consist of experienced leaders in healthcare. All members of the team are dedicated to ensuring that safety of practice and delivery of care is maintained to the highest standard across the complex and multiple specialties of the hospital.
