Safeguarding Children Assurance Statement

HCA Healthcare UK as a private healthcare provider is committed to safeguarding children and young people across the organisation. The welfare of children who come into our services, either directly or indirectly, is paramount and all staff have a responsibility to ensure HCA UK compliance with statutory requirements.

HCA UK provides services in the London Boroughs of Camden, Havering, Kensington and Chelsea, Southwark, Westminster, and outside London in Manchester.

HCA UK meets its statutory requirements in relation to Disclosure and Barring checks and a process for pre-employment checks is managed through our Compliance Team;

The Safeguarding Children and Young People policy is reviewed three yearly and in line with legislative changes; all policies are widely available to all staff through HCA UK’s electronic policy library;

HCA Healthcare UK has a dedicated Safeguarding Lead and a Named Doctor. They have a clear remit, including collaborative working with partner agencies. There are Executive Safeguarding Children Leads in all HCA Healthcare UK facilities;

A quarterly Safeguarding Committee is held, which provides monitoring and assurance for the Quality and Safety Board with regards to safeguarding children activities in all HCA UK facilities;

HCA UK has a system in place for raising safeguarding concerns both clinically and though a reporting and learning system. This includes children who are not brought to planned appointments;

Safeguarding supervision is available to all staff through a network of trained supervisors;

There is a robust safeguarding children training programme with clearly defined eligibility as laid down by the Intercollegiate Documents: Roles and Responsibilities for Healthcare Staff 2015.
