About our nurse-led clinic

As part of The Portland Hospital’s extensive women’s health services, we run a nurse-led smear clinic. You can either be referred by your GP for a smear test or get in touch to make an appointment.

The clinic is held at the outpatient facilities at 212 Great Portland Street, two times a week from 8am to 8pm.

The Department of Health recommends that women between the ages of 25 to 64 years have routine cervical smears every three to five years as part of the NHS Screening Programme (Department of Health Cervical Screening Programme Guidelines 2006). Cervical Screening has proved to be extremely effective in the early detection of abnormalities and if treated promptly prognosis is good.

The Portland Hospital Nurse Led clinic is headed up by Gynaecology Outpatient Sister, Anna Barbour.
