THE PROCESS

What to expect
We want you to feel as comfortable and reassured as possible when you’re in our care, and one of the ways we can do that is to let you know what to expect at every stage. Your treatment will be specifically tailored to you and your needs, but this will give you a good idea of what to expect.

01

Initial consultation

You’ll be seen at one of our clinics in calm, relaxing surroundings. One of our expert gynaecologists will take the time to listen to your concerns and answer any questions you have. They'll carry out a gentle physical examination and an ultrasound, making sure you feel comfortable and fully supported throughout.

02

Tests and scans

You'll have a range of routine blood tests as well as a urine dip test to help us check for, or rule out, a variety of gynaecological conditions. Your consultant will explain each test clearly, so you know exactly what we’re looking for and what your results mean.

03

Hysteroscopy and ultrasound

You may have a hysteroscopy, which is a close look inside your uterus using a thin, flexible telescope. It’s a key tool to help diagnose (and sometimes treat) issues like abnormal bleeding or fibroids. You may also have a transvaginal ultrasound to get a clearer view of your pelvic area. We'll explain each step and make sure you're as comfortable as possible throughout.

04

Ongoing care

Following your initial investigations, we may recommend further imaging, such as an MRI or CT scan. These give us even more detail about your reproductive health and help us come up with the best treatment plan for you. If needed, we can arrange next steps quickly and seamlessly through our trusted private network, making sure you’re always in expert hands.

Rapid Access Gynaecology FAQ

Our Rapid Access Gynaecology service gives you fast access to gynaecologists and specialist  teams that can diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, including abnormal uterine bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, abnormal cervical smears, pelvic pain, fibroids and ovarian cysts. They also offer fast-track cancer exclusion tests and a fast-track to cancer treatment.

They’ll use advanced diagnostic technology to investigate your condition and if you need surgery, they have the facilities and skills to conduct advanced minimally invasive robotically assisted surgery, if it’s appropriate.

You can also receive care and treatment for menopause, fertility issues, and have a preventative women’s health check to rule out common conditions. We’re here for you.
It’s important to address any concerns as soon as possible, so you should see a gynaecologist if you experience pelvic pain, heavy or irregular periods, unusual discharge, or any other changes in your reproductive health.

At your first consultation, your specialist will listen carefully to your concerns, answer any questions, and carry out any necessary examinations, including an ultrasound. They’ll explain everything to you at each step, so you feel informed, reassured and in control of your care.

Your first consultation is a chance to share your concerns with your consultant and ask any questions you have. They’ll ask you about your symptoms and your overall health, and carry out any necessary examinations, including an ultrasound. If you need further tests or treatment, your consultant will explain every step carefully.

Every patient is different, and your consultant will only recommend the tests they feel you need. Some of the most common tests include blood tests, urine tests, an ultrasound scan, or a hysteroscopy, and you’ll have every step explained to you.
It can be stressful to wait for test results, so we aim to get your results back to you on the same day or within 48 hours. Your consultant will discuss your results with you in detail and talk you through any further tests or treatment they feel you need.
Yes, we do. You should be able to get a same-day appointment with a specialist gynaecology consultant, and if you need any tests and scans, a referral or a minor procedure, we’ll do our best to make that happen on the day. Our extensive network of hospitals, clinics and consultants means you’ll never have to wait long for any treatment you need.
You can benefit from Rapid Access Gynaecology treatment at a wide range of hospitals and clinics including at Harley Street in London and in Birmingham and Manchester,  where you’ll be looked after by dedicated staff in modern, comfortable facilities. A full list of available locations can be found in the locations section of this page.
Yes, we do. All our Rapid Access Gynaecology services have consultants who specialise in menopause care. They have the experience and expertise to help you understand and manage your symptoms.
Our Rapid Access Gynaecology service is designed to get you to the right consultant quickly and easily. You can use our consultant finder to find them and book a same-day appointment, or to book in for a time that suits you. Absolutely. If you’d feel more comfortable with a female consultant, you can choose from a wide range of experts using our consultant finder, or let us know your preference when you call to book and we’ll do our best to match you with the right person.
Our dedicated consultants treat an extensive range of gynaecological conditions, and any treatment you receive will be specific to your circumstances and condition. Your consultant will always explain every step of recommended treatment in full beforehand, so you’ll have clarity at every stage.

Endometriosis Antonias story.jpg

Antonia’s chronic endometriosis

Antonia was diagnosed with endometriosis in 1994, at the age of 24, after she had been experiencing chronic pelvic pain and heavy periods.

I am now, finally, living my life and I am having a blast. It’s important to remember that even when you’re at your lowest, there is always hope and that there are doctors out there who do listen and who do help.
