CaRi-heart technology
Revolutionary new technology to assess the risk of a serious heart condition or heart attack – many years before anything happens.
At Lister Fertility Clinic, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate and expert fertility care - regardless of body size.
There’s a common misconception that all fertility clinics apply a strict upper BMI limit when offering treatment. While this is the case in some settings, it’s not how we do things at Lister Fertility Clinic.
We understand that fertility is deeply personal and complex. Whether you’re considering IVF, egg freezing, or any other treatment, your BMI is just one part of a much bigger picture.
Consultant Mr James Nicopoullos explains how we assess every patient on a case-by-case basis.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is just one factor that can affect fertility and treatment outcomes. However, it’s far from the only one, and in many cases, it can be misleading when used in isolation. That’s why we take a holistic approach. Our specialists will assess your individual health profile, medical history, and treatment goals before making any recommendations.
So, while obesity can affect fertility outcomes, it doesn’t automatically exclude a patient from treatment at Lister Clinic.
“We are proud to offer fertility care that is inclusive and non-judgmental. BMI alone should never be a barrier to exploring treatment, which is why we assess every patient individually and work in partnership with them to determine the best possible path forward.”
Unlike many NHS and private clinics that apply a fixed weight limit for IVF, we take a different approach – assessing each patient on their individual clinical profile. We’re proud to provide fertility care that is inclusive, non-judgmental. We know that for many people, coming to a fertility clinic can feel daunting, especially if you've had past experiences where your weight was a barrier to treatment. We want you to know that Lister Fertility Clinic is a different kind of clinic.
Here, you’ll be supported by a multidisciplinary team of consultants, embryologists, nurses, and counsellors who are all aligned in our approach: to help you feel empowered, informed, and respected throughout your care.
Many patients come to us after being turned away by other clinics due to a BMI above 30 or 35.
At Lister Fertility Clinic, we don't set an upper BMI limit for IVF. Instead, our consultant will assess whether treatment is clinically appropriate for you as an individual.
For those looking to optimise their health before treatment, our Lifestyle Fertility Clinic offers personalised support to help improve lifestyle factors that can affect fertility and treatment outcomes.
And if treatment is right for you, we'll support you every step of the way.
