Fertility treatment

What to expect
We realise that starting the fertility treatment process can feel overwhelming. From the moment you step through the door at Lister Fertility Clinic, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible.

One of the ways we can put you at ease is to let you know what to expect at each stage of your fertility investigation and treatment process.

If you have any questions that aren’t answered here or in the FAQ section below, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our team will be happy to help in any way they can.

01

Gain support from the community

We recommend that before you contact us, you find out as much information as possible about the services and treatments you’re interested in – and our partnerships can help with that.

They’re a brilliant resource for information and advice, from the podcasts and online resources to the live events, and you can also research the finance options available to fund your treatment.

02

Initial consultation

We understand that undergoing any fertility testing and treatment is a personal and difficult process, and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible. That’s why we let you choose your consultant. You can use our online Consultant Finder to view our fertility specialists and book an appointment.

To get the most out of your appointment, we recommend that you write down any questions you’d like to ask your consultant. Please bring any recent test results you may have from your GP or another fertility clinic.

You and your partner will be invited to the clinic to meet with your chosen fertility consultant. You’ll both need to fill out a detailed medical questionnaire, which your consultant will review and discuss with you.

Your consultant will recommend any tests and scans for you both, and will be happy to answer any questions or talk through any concerns you may have.

03

Tests and scans

We offer a comprehensive range of fertility tests, which are carried out in our clinic. This includes everything from blood screening and specialist sperm tests to ovarian reserve tests.

The tests and scans are carried out by our highly skilled team members, which includes sonographers and clinical nurses, who’ll be there to support you and guide you through the process.

04

Follow-up appointment and next steps

Once your consultant has your test results, they’ll discuss these with you and come up with a treatment plan that you’re happy with.

You can take as much time as you need to decide whether you’d like to go ahead with treatment. When you’re ready, just let us know.

The Lister Fertility clinic is widely recognised as one of the leading private fertility treatment centres in the UK. Established in 1988, our clinic has maintained its reputation as being one of the most successful IVF treatment clinics in the UK ever since. We’re proud that more than 23,000 “Lister babies” have been born under the care of our dedicated team.

Under the leadership of our Clinical Director Mr James Nicopoullos, our private fertility treatment success rates remain consistently high across all our sites. This is achieved while helping people who often have complicated histories, previously unsuccessful fertility treatment or who have been declined treatment elsewhere.
We have consistently high success rates, and more than 23,000 babies have been born under our dedicated team of fertility specialists. But every case is different, and your journey is specific to you.

To get a better idea of how successful any treatment might be, try using our fertility calculator, which uses data from more than 4,000 previous patients to help you determine your chances.
