A fast and accurate diagnosis

We understand that waiting for tests or results can be a worrying time, particularly if you’re experiencing symptoms of cancer. That’s why we’ll give you rapid access to diagnostic tests using the latest technologies and procedures, helping you get clear answers without delay.

For urgent referrals, appointments can often be arranged within 48 hours, or even on the same day if clinically required. If you are diagnosed with cancer, you’ll have immediate access to our team of highly experienced experts, who will work together to recommend a personalised treatment and care plan based on your individual needs.

An expert cancer team, focused on you

Delivering exceptional cancer treatment and care requires a co-ordinated team approach. The depth and breadth of our expertise means we can draw on the knowledge and experience of some of the world’s leading cancer specialists, to create and deliver a treatment plan that’s as unique as you are.

You can choose your preferred consultant, who will lead and oversee every aspect of your care. If you aren’t sure which consultant you need to see, our team can help you find an expert that’s right for you. Either way you can be sure your care is being led by a highly experienced consultant who specialises in your type of cancer.
Your named consultant will discuss your diagnosis with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of cancer experts, whose goal will be to ensure that all treatment options are fully considered. Our teams include specialists in oncology, surgery, radiology, pathology and other specialist areas of cancer treatment, all working together to recommend the most effective treatment and care plan for you.
Working closely with your chosen consultant you will receive the dedicated support of a named Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). CNSs are expert nurses who specialise in specific types of cancer and cancer treatments.

They will coordinate your care with the wider clinical team, providing medical, practical, and emotional support throughout your treatment and follow up care. They can also refer you to other specialists who are here to support you, such as physiotherapists, dieticians, and psychologists, when needed.

Access to new treatments through clinical trials

At HCA UK we’re committed to advancing medicine and improving the lives of people with cancer. We are proud to be the only private healthcare provider in the UK with a dedicated clinical trials facility, the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI).

Clinical trials provide access to new and emerging cancer treatments at the earliest opportunity. Our consultants work closely with our research teams to assess whether a clinical trial may be appropriate for you.

Health insurance

If your treatment is covered by insurance, your insurer will usually ask for a referral letter from a GP or consultant, and they’ll provide you with an authorisation code. You’ll need this code to book an appointment with us.

All our consultants are recognised by major medical insurers, and you can choose to be seen at an HCA UK hospital. Once you have your code, just give us a call and we’ll take care of the rest. Or if you prefer, you can book an appointment online.

If you’re considering private cancer care, you can speak to your GP or a consultant about a referral – you’ll just need to ask for HCA UK. They can provide a referral letter, which you’ll bring with you when you come for a consultation.

You can choose your preferred consultant, who will lead and oversee every aspect of your care. If you aren’t sure which consultant you need to see, we can help you find an expert that’s right for you. Either way, you can be sure your care is being led by a highly experienced specialist in your type of cancer.

If you have private medical insurance (PMI), your insurer will usually need to approve or pre-authorise your consultation or treatment beforehand. This is normally a straightforward process. Simply contact your insurer with your referral details, and they’ll confirm what’s covered under your policy.

The cost of private cancer treatment in the UK varies depending on the type of cancer, the stage at diagnosis, and the treatment plan that’s recommended for you. We understand that transparency is important, so we aim to provide clear information about pricing wherever possible. If you’d like to explore typical costs or discuss your options, you can find more details here.

Treatment costs in London may differ from other parts of the UK. You can find more information about our locations and see which hospital or clinic is most convenient for you here.

Our patients and their families are at the centre of everything we do.

We know a cancer diagnosis has a life-changing impact on you and your family. Our priority is to provide you with the best possible treatment plan, while supporting you and your loved ones with the emotional, physical and practical aspects of cancer.

Our expert teams will provide you with the help that’s right for you at the time that’s right for you. Whether that’s support with the emotional impact of your diagnosis, or with the physical impacts of treatment, either during your treatment or with the longer-term effects it may cause. We can support you with everything, including diet and exercise, body image and intimate relationships, psychological support, spirituality and managing the side effects of your treatment.

Yes. You can ask for a second opinion at any stage of your cancer diagnosis and treatment. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed with cancer, have a recommended treatment plan or have already started treatment, a second opinion can help you feel confident that you’re getting the very best treatment options available to you.

You may be advised of new treatment options, access to new and emerging therapies or clinical trials, or confirmation that you’ve been recommended the best treatment available – either way, it will help you make an informed decision about your treatment.

We continually invest in the latest technology and cancer innovations to ensure you have access to the most effective treatment options available. Whether it’s expanding our fleet of da Vinci robotic surgical systems, increasing access to highly targeted therapies, or upgrading our hospital environments, our focus is on providing exceptional cancer care. This ongoing investment, combined with the expertise of our teams, means you benefit from the very latest and most effective treatment options.

We’re committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support at every stage. All our hospitals and cancer treatment centres have been rated “Good” or “Outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). In addition, we continually achieve independent accreditations, including:
