HCA Healthcare UK invests £15million to introduce advanced MR-guided radiotherapy with Elekta Unity MR Linac
Private Care at Guy’s is our state-of-the-art cancer centre. Whilst located on the top four of floors Guy’s Hospital’s NHS cancer centre, Private Care at Guy’s is wholly owned by HCA UK's London Bridge Hospital. Featuring theatres, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, oncology and surgical wards, and a four-bed intensive care unit with an intensive care consultant resident 24 hours a day, we deliver a level of care rarely found in the private sector.
Private Care at Guy’s provides an environment in which the UK’s leading consultants can deliver the best possible care and treatment for our patients. Among other specialties London Bridge Hospital’s urology, haematology, head and neck, gynaecology and oncology services are based here. Private Care at Guy’s is also a centre of excellence for robotic surgery, oncology and a JACIE accredited stem cell transplantation unit for blood cancers and Multiple Sclerosis.
Private Care at Guy's specialises in cancer treatment, including surgery and treatment in urology, gynaecology and breast care. Our multidisciplinary teams, which include consultants from London's top teaching hospitals, work closely together to provide the best treatment for our patients in the following specialties:
Our services include outpatient chemotherapy, oncology, haematology and stem cell transplantation. We also provide private radiotherapy on campus in our London Radiotherapy Centre. Complementary therapy and support counselling are available to our patients from initial diagnosis, through to treatment and aftercare.
As part of our comprehensive cancer service, at Private Care at Guy’s we offer the very latest anti-cancer therapies. These include new biologic treatments, immunotherapy and clinical trials through the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI). SCRI is the first and only unit outside the NHS to offer these anti-cancer drugs in therapeutic clinical trials.
Here consultant surgeons have access to the latest technology on-site including the da Vinci ® surgical system: a robot that offers surgeons unparalleled assistance in performing the most complex and delicate of surgeries. This ensures greater precision when treating patients with conditions such as prostate cancer, and head and neck tumours, where the risk of collateral damage is higher in such confined spaces. Specialties include urology, gynaecology, head and neck and thoracic.
At Private Care at Guy’s the latest procedures carried out robotically include: Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for base of tongue and throat cancers; radical prostatectomies, complex, urological reconstruction, adrenalectomy, thymectomy and lung segmentectomy, and hysterectomy. Patients whose conditions are appropriate for robotic surgery can expect: shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, less pain, lower infection rates and less scarring.
We work in close partnership with our renowned cancer specialists, LOC (Leaders in Oncology Care) based at London Bridge Hospital Private Care at Guy’s, The Wellington Hospital Outpatients and The Harley Street Clinic.
The combined expertise of our multidisciplinary team of oncology specialists and sub-specialists, all of whom benefit from access to the latest clinical trials, helps to ensure we deliver a wide range of the latest effective cancer treatments to our patients.
Our medical centre is supported by the expertise of leading consultants and multidisciplinary teams. Our teams are able to identify and diagnose complex conditions quickly and with accuracy.
We have a JACIE accredited autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation unit (AHSCT) for haematological cancers and patients with MS. In the case of MS this treatment is proven to lead to remission in 70 to 80% of patients (as defined by No Evidence of Disease Activity, NEDA, over three years).
