About

Dr Robin Dart is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and went on to complete his postgraduate clinical training in Edinburgh and North East London. He further developed his expertise through subspecialty IBD training as a research fellow at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. Dr Dart has also held leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Young European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation committee, and has contributed as a clinical expert for NICE.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Dart is actively involved in IBD research. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and leads a research group at King’s College London. He completed a PhD in immunology at King’s College London and the Francis Crick Institute, and now focuses on investigating how immune cells maintain gut health and respond in IBD, with the aim of improving patient outcomes. His research has been widely recognised, earning awards such as the British Society of Gastroenterology Sir Francis Avery Jones Medal (2025), the Francis Crick Institute Scientific Achievement Award (2023), and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation Best Abstract Award (2019).

Dr Dart is also a JAG-accredited trainer in colonoscopy and gastroscopy, with clinical expertise spanning general gastroenterology, endoscopy, and the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease.
