Pooja Shah

Dr Pooja Shah joins us as a Consultant in Pain Management and Anaesthesia. She specialises in acute pain, chronic pain and cancer pain management, with a particular interest in neuropathic pain, interventional pain procedures for chronic and cancer pain, as well as joint pain.

She completed her training in Anaesthesia at the Barts and the London School of Anaesthesia, followed by an advanced pain fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and University College London Hospital (UCLH). She currently works at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Trust, where she leads the acute pain service, works closely with the palliative care team, and manages a busy chronic pain workload.

Alongside clinical work, Dr Shah is the Faculty Tutor for Pain Medicine at her trust and is the social media editor for BJA Education, a CPD journal within the BJA family.

Outside of work, Dr Shah enjoys walks in the countryside and trying desperately to grow vegetables at home.
