Mr Nkwam graduated in Medicine from St. George’s, University of London in 2007. Three years later he became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England while completing his core surgical training in the Birmingham, UK. He then went on to complete higher surgical training in Urology in the East Midlands training programme, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2017. In 2018 he undertook a 12-month Fellowship in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) surgery & Endourology at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, performing close to 100 HoLEP procedures there. Furthermore, Mr Nkwam also has a Masters of Philosophy in prostate cancer research from Nottingham Trent University.
Mr Nkwam is a keen academic and his work has been presented at several national and international conferences. He is also published widely with 23 publications in peer reviewed journals, of which seven are as first author. He was awarded the East Midlands Trainee Medal in 2017 and the Ian McCallum Research Prize in 2018 for his commitment to clinical audit, quality improvement and research.
Mr Nkwam is a member of several learned societies including the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the European Association of Urology. He currently works as a Consultant Urological Surgeon with a specialist interest in the treatment of benign prostatic enlargement at the Princess Royal University Hospital, part of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London, where in 2020 he performed the Trust’s first ever HoLEP surgery. He is now embarking on another first at the Trust where he is set to launch a new focal therapy service for prostate cancer with the introduction of Nanoknife. He now lives locally in South London and is happily married, with three young children.
