Mr Sebastian Dawson-Bowling is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with extensive experience in lower limb surgery, including primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures. He works within Barts Health NHS Trust, with clinical responsibilities at the Royal London Hospital and the Gateway Surgical Centre in Newham, where he leads the development of the arthroplasty service.
He completed his undergraduate medical studies at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He subsequently undertook basic and higher surgical training within the South East Thames region, followed by subspecialist fellowship training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. In January 2014, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London.
In addition to his surgical qualifications, Mr Dawson-Bowling obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Law from Cardiff University Law School in 2008, completing a thesis focused on medical negligence and informed consent. He contributes to academic practice as a reviewer for journals including The Bone & Joint Journal, The Knee and the British Medical Journal. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and presents his research at national and international scientific meetings. His current research interests include accelerated recovery pathways for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
