Mr Sebastian Dawson-Bowling is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with many years of experience in lower limb surgery, including hip and knee surgery, and revision surgery.
He currently works at the Bart's Health NHS Trust, with clinical duties at both the Royal London Hospital and at the Gateway Surgical Centre in Newham, where he is the orthopaedic lead for the development of the new arthroplasty (hip and knee) centre.
After completion of his undergraduate medical degree at Magdalene College, Cambridge and Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospitals, Mr Dawson-Bowling began his basic and specialist surgical training in the South East Thames region and went on to undertake his subspecialist fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. Upon completion, Mr Dawson-Bowling was appointed Consultant in January 2014 at St. George's Hospital in London.
In addition to his medical training, Sebastian's strong academic interest culminated in him graduating from Cardiff University Law School with a Masters' degree in medical law (LLM) in 2008, where he completed a thesis on Medical Negligence and Informed Consent.
Mr Dawson-Bowling is also a reviewer for several journals including the Bone and Joint Journal, The Knee and the British Medical Journal and regularly presents his work at national and international conferences. Mr Dawson-Bowling has also co-authored 12 peer-reviewed publications and his current research interests include the development of accelerated recovery pathways for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
