Mr Nicolas Beechey-Newman is one of London’s most experienced and highly respected breast specialists. He works exclusively in the private healthcare sector and is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Harley Street Breast Clinic, a dedicated centre for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of breast conditions in central London.
Mr Beechey-Newman graduated from Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London in 1983. He gained 14 years’ experience in general surgery before being appointed as a Consultant at the Breast Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He now practises solely in breast surgery, with expertise spanning benign breast disease, breast cancer, and breast reconstructive surgery following cancer treatment.
Mr Beechey-Newman was among the first surgeons in the country to perform sentinel lymph node biopsy, having visited Dr Armando Giuliano, who originally described the technique. He also introduced breast duct micro-endoscopy to Europe and has published extensively on both areas. His work on duct micro-endoscopy has been referenced in over 2,000 media articles, and he authored the only published study worldwide examining breast cancer in women under the age of 25.
Mr Beechey-Newman runs daily clinics and is able to see new patients rapidly, with or without a GP referral. He specialises in the assessment and diagnosis of all breast conditions, including breast cancer. At the Harley Street Breast Clinic, he leads a highly experienced multidisciplinary team of breast-specialist radiologists and pathologists. For patients diagnosed with breast cancer, his team also includes a small group of internationally renowned medical and radiation oncologists.
His clinical practice includes the management of breast cancer and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), breast reconstruction and oncoplastic surgery, benign breast conditions and cysts, breast infections, breast pain, nipple discharge, nipple inversion and other nipple disorders, male breast conditions including gynaecomastia, axillary lymph node enlargement, genetic risk assessment and family history of breast cancer, breast micro-endoscopy, and routine breast screening.
