About
Based at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Mr Asif Haq is a highly experienced Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal and Minimal Access Surgeon. Mr Haq is a specialist in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, with key areas of expertise in bowel cancer and coloproctological conditions. He is also extremely proficient in revision abdominal surgery, particularly abdominal wall reconstruction, reversal surgery for stomas (ileostomy and colostomy) and incisional hernia repair via a minimal access approach.
After obtaining his primary medical qualification at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1990, Mr Haq went on to complete general surgery training in England and specialised colorectal training in both London and Canada. The Royal College of Surgeons of England awarded Mr Haq with the New York Travelling Fellowship and he also received the prestigious Sir Ian Todd Fellowship.
Mr Haq is also actively involved in education and teaches both nationally and internationally. He is a committed trainer for the The National Training Programme for Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery in England and is also a core member of the Network of Iranians for Knowledge and Innovation (NIKI), which involves annual travel to Iran to lead workshops in hospitals for medical students and junior doctors.
