Mohit Bansal is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, with a particular interest in managing a wide spectrum of conditions including arthritis, sports injuries, and trauma. His NHS base is at Princess Royal University Hospital and Orpington Hospital, a purpose-built elective orthopaedic centre where he performs a high volume of routine hip and knee procedures. He has also worked as a Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, managing patients with complex knee pathologies.
Mr Bansal’s clinical focus includes day-case arthroplasty, prehabilitation prior to surgery, and optimising pain management in lower limb surgery. He is deeply committed to improving patient outcomes by incorporating shared decision-making and enhancing patient understanding of their condition and treatment options. His practice is centred on delivering high-quality, patient-focused care, supported by enhanced recovery pathways and tailored pre- and post-operative rehabilitation. He consistently strives to improve services through active participation in research and has achieved excellent patient outcomes and feedback.
His specialist interests encompass partial (unicompartmental) knee replacement, primary and revision total knee replacement, primary and revision total hip replacement, knee joint preservation procedures such as PRP and stem cell therapies, osteotomies and cartilage procedures, as well as sports-related injuries including meniscal repair and ligament reconstruction. Alongside surgical care, Mr Bansal works closely with allied health professionals to maximise non-operative management wherever appropriate.
Mr Bansal graduated from Sir Sayaji University in India and completed his postgraduate degree in Orthopaedics before moving to the UK in 2006. He undertook comprehensive surgical training, obtained a research degree, and completed his orthopaedic training rotation in South East London, working across several leading teaching and district general hospitals. Following completion of his training, he undertook internationally recognised fellowships in trauma and soft tissue knee surgery at Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham, as well as a lower limb arthroplasty and joint preservation fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. He further developed his expertise in knee surgery at King’s College Hospital and during his time as a Locum Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’.
