Miss Rosaria Scarpinata is a Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgeon currently based at the private practice at HCA London Bridge Hospital. Her current NHS post is King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust- Princess Royal University Hospital. Her area of specialism is Lower GI Surgery and her areas of interest include Laparoscopic surgery; colorectal cancer; diverticular disease; inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colonoscopy.
Miss Scarpinata graduated in 2002 with full honours from Palermo University School of Medicine, Italy, she then completed Higher Surgical Training in General and Colorectal Surgery in 2008. She completed a 6 months fellowship at St. Mark’s Hospital, focusing on laparoscopic colorectal surgery. In the United Kingdom from 2009 she trained in laparoscopic colorectal surgery through two fellowships at Leeds General Infirmary and QE Birmingham. Appointed as an Ethicon Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellow in 2011 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, recognised as part of the National Training Programme of the Cancer Reform Implementation, she gained extensive training and hands-on experience in major laparoscopic colorectal procedures.
In addition, Miss Scarpinata has many professional memberships including Medical Defence Union, Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and British Medical Association. She is currently Chair for the South East London Tumour Group and provides leadership and guidance in colorectal cancer matter.
