He currently practises in London at The Holly Private Hospital, The London Independent Hospital, and London Bridge Hospital.
His specialist interests include joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, joint fusion procedures, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s disease, cubital tunnel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, radial tunnel syndrome, hand and wrist injuries, sports-related injuries, and ligament reconstruction. Mr Zekry is particularly experienced in the treatment of complex fractures and challenging ligament injuries.
A key area of his practice is minimally invasive, keyhole surgery of the hand and wrist, including procedures for ganglion excision, ligament reconstruction, and fracture fixation. He is also highly skilled in performing surgery using the Wide Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) technique, allowing many procedures to be carried out without the need for general or regional anaesthesia.
Mr Zekry was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2016. He further enhanced his specialist credentials by obtaining the Diploma in Hand Surgery from the European Board of Hand Surgery in 2021.
Following completion of his higher specialist orthopaedic training within Birmingham University Hospitals, he undertook advanced fellowships in hand surgery and complex upper limb trauma at King’s College London. Before relocating to the United Kingdom, he spent almost a decade working at a supra-regional major trauma centre in Dubai, managing severely injured patients with complex fractures and traumatic injuries. During this time, he also served as a Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at Dubai Medical College.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Zekry is actively involved in surgical education, teaching hand surgery on a variety of training programmes for candidates preparing for the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) examination. He also contributed as editor of the Hand and Wrist chapter in the textbook Concise Orthopaedic Notes for FRCS (Tr&Orth).
He has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented his research at both national and international conferences. Currently, he serves as Clinical Governance Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics and sits on the Quality and Safety Panel for Surgical Specialties at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Prior to joining Homerton Hospital, he worked as a Hand and Wrist Consultant at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
