About
Dr. Joel Mawdsley is a consultant gastroenterologist and joint clinical lead at the internationally respected Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit. He studied pre-clinical medicine at Queens College, Cambridge, where he received a first-class honours degree and won the Max Bull Prize for medicine. Dr. Mawdsley has served as an Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College and a consultant at West Middlesex University, where he was the training lead for endoscopy. His specialties include luminal gastroenterology, endoscopy, and IBD.Dr. Mawdsley was a clinical research fellow at the Royal London from 2005-2007, completing a Doctorate of Medicine on the role of stress and psychoneuroimmunology in IBD. He has maintained an active research interest in IBD and the brain-gut axis, and has published several high-impact papers. He was also a colonoscopist in the National Bowel Cancer Screening program for three years. His clinical expertise includes luminal gastroenterology, endoscopy, and IBD.
