Miss Arifa Siddika is a Consultant Colorectal and Hernia Surgeon practising in London. Her work covers a broad range of colorectal conditions, with a main focus on hernia repair, fistula-in-ano, and disorders of the pelvic floor, and she has significant experience in both planned and emergency cases.
She has developed advanced skills in minimally invasive hernia surgery, including robotic and laparoscopic techniques. Her practice includes managing complex and recurrent hernias, as well as undertaking abdominal wall reconstruction when needed, with an emphasis on approaches that can aid recovery and improve outcomes.
In addition, she provides specialist treatment for complex fistula-in-ano, offering both established surgical options and newer minimally invasive procedures such as VAAFT and EPSiT. Within her NHS role, she leads care for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction and manages a wide spectrum of non-cancerous colorectal and proctological conditions.
She is accredited as a lower gastrointestinal endoscopist by JAG and performs colonoscopy, including for patients with abnormal FIT results, alongside diagnostic assessment and management of benign bowel disease.
Miss Siddika is an elected member of the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Committee at the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland. She is actively engaged in education and research, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and works as a Visiting Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. She also teaches on courses for the Royal College of Surgeons and acts as a reviewer for the Journal of Robotic Surgery.
She completed her higher surgical training in the East of England, followed by a fellowship at Nottingham University Hospital, where she later held a consultant position. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).
