Mr Ahmed Magan is an orthopaedic surgeon whose practice focuses on hip and knee surgery alongside the management of general orthopaedic trauma. He is based at The Princess Grace Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK, and treats a wide range of degenerative, traumatic and sports-related musculoskeletal conditions.
His clinical interests include arthritic joint disease, bone pathology and injuries sustained through sport. He has extensive experience in both elective and trauma orthopaedics, supported by training undertaken in leading centres in London, Cardiff and Toronto. His background also includes work at three major trauma centres, one of which was Cambridge University Hospital.
Mr Magan has particular expertise in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as the treatment of sports injuries. Since 2020, he has incorporated robotic-assisted techniques into his surgical practice and is a fully certified MAKO robotic surgeon. This forms part of his broader interest in the use of advanced technology to support surgical accuracy and patient outcomes.
Alongside his private practice, Mr Magan holds the role of Clinical Governance Lead at University Hospital Lewisham within Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. In this capacity, he is involved in initiatives focused on patient safety, quality improvement and the delivery of patient-centred care. He is a member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the European Hip Society.
Mr Magan remains actively involved in research and education. His current research interests include functional recovery and return to sport following hip and knee surgery. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and contributes to clinical teaching through lecturing roles across the UK. His academic involvement has included supervision within the University of Cambridge Department of Medicine, and he currently serves as faculty for University College London and the AO Foundation.
He is frequently invited to present his work at national and international meetings, reflecting his ongoing contribution to the field of orthopaedic surgery.
