Mr Chris Young is a highly skilled cardiothoracic surgeon with a special interest in surgery of the aortic valve and thoracic aortic aneurysm disease. He graduated from Sheffield University Medical School in 1980 and completed his cardiothoracic training at several prestigious hospitals in the UK, including St Bartholomew's Hospital, St Thomas Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, and Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham.

Mr Young also undertook two years of research at the Rayne Institute, St Thomas' as a BHF Junior Research Fellow, which resulted in him being awarded an MD for his work on myocardial protection. His specialist surgical expertise includes all aspects of surgery of the aortic valve, aortic root replacement, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). He has also pioneered the introduction of TAVI at London Bridge Hospital.

In addition to his work in aortic valve surgery, Mr Young is also an expert in surgery for thoracic aortic aneurysm disease, including aortic dissection, aortic arch replacement, hybrid vascular procedures, and endovascular stenting. He leads the thoracic aortic vascular program at St Thomas' Hospital and monitors patients in aortic surveillance clinics for the long-term.
