Testicular mapping at HCA UK

Why choose us for your testicular mapping?

At HCA UK, we understand that facing fertility challenges can feel overwhelming, but you're not alone. Our fertility specialists are here to guide and support you every step of the way. We offer a range of tests and scans to help you better understand your fertility and create a tailored treatment path just for you.

Whether you're just starting your fertility journey or have explored other options, our testicular mapping can help us assess your chances for successful sperm retrieval

When you choose us, you gain peace of mind that you're in safe hands.

Testicular mapping is a minimally invasive procedure used to potentially locate sperm in the testes. It's often recommended for men with non-obstructive azoospermia (no sperm in the ejaculate) or after an unsuccessful sperm retrieval.

This procedure can help locate areas likely to contain sperm. The results from testicular mapping help us create a personalised treatment plan to guide the next steps in your fertility journey.

There are many benefits of testicular mapping, including:
  • Guides urologists directly to areas of sperm production (with some studies suggesting an increase to more than 90% success)
  • Minimises potential damage to the testis from multiple failed biopsies
  • If results show a negative map, it can help couples explore alternative male fertility treatment options, such as the use of donor sperm
Yes, Patients of the Lister Fertility Clinic who need testicular mapping will be treated in conjunction with Consultant Urologist and Andrologist Mr Jonathan Ramsay. To make an appointment with Mr Jonathan Ramsay directly, please call 020 3311 7669.

Your testicular mapping with HCA UK

What to expect

From the very beginning of this process until you discuss your results and next steps with your consultant, we want you to feel comfortable and reassured. This is a totally private test, carried out with the utmost discretion in our leading fertility clinics.

We're always available to discuss your options and answer any questions you may have, but this will give you a good idea of what to expect.

01

Initial consultation

You'll have an initial consultation with your fertility specialist, who will discuss your medical history and fertility journey with you. They'll review any previous test results, such as semen analysis, and explain the testicular mapping process to you so you know what to expect. Your fertility specialist will take the time to answer any questions you may have.

02

Testicular mapping procedure

At your treatment appointment, we will help you prepare for the procedure. It will be performed under either local or general anaesthesia, and you may be asked to fast for a few hours before. Once the test is complete, you can return home and wait for the results.

03

Referral to a urologist

Once we have your results, your specialist may refer you to one of our specialist urologists. Your fertility specialist will also explain the results to you and advise on the next best steps. This may be to continue with sperm retrieval, or they may discuss other options with you, such as using donor sperm.
