Expanse: Consultant Hub

Expanse provides a usable, efficient and safe Electronic Health Record (EHR) across HCA UK. This page contains useful information to help you access and navigate the system.

Accessing Expanse

You need certain information to access Expanse (your two unique log ins and a password) and remote access set up (MFA and Citrix).

Two usernames

  • Your HCA username, used to log in to HCA computers
  • Your Expanse log in, used for MFA, Citrix and/or your HCA email

Password

The one you use to log in to HCA computers, Citrix, MFA and/or a HCA email account. This is your Expanse password.

If you do not know these details:

  • Call the ITG Service Desk (see p10 here)
  • If you need further assistance, contact your Business Development Lead.

Once you have all your details set up, please test them where possible.

Expanse support

On 1 November, Expanse went live for all inpatient RDs, ITU and UCC consultants/doctors. All other consultants will access Expanse in view-only mode and continue their current ways of working. On 17 November, all inpatient consultants begin using Expanse for electronic entry.

For support when Expanse is live:

  • Speak to anyone on-site in a coloured t-shirt; they can raise a support ticket for you
  • For help with clinical workflows, speak to your RD.

Refresher training:

  • Video tutorial on accessing Expanse and viewing results
  • Trainers will be on-site each day; speak to someone in a coloured t-shirt to request support via your local Go Live Hub.

  • Imaging and lab result visibility: accessible patient chart, with diagnostic results in one place and graphs to monitor trends. Imaging and labs order history to view outstanding tests and links to view images. 

With Expanse, you can leverage data and information, and drive patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Consultant Change Leads provide a dedicated point of contact for your questions or concerns. They will guide you through the launch of Expanse, ensuring that you understand how it impacts your particular specialty and workflows.
