Professor Treibel is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist specialising in valvular heart disease, heart failure, and multimodality imaging. He is Professor of Cardiology at University College London and works clinically at Barts Health. His subspecialty training includes advanced heart failure, valvular conditions, and multimodality imaging, and he holds accreditation in cardiovascular magnetic resonance as well as transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography.
Committed to improving outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease, Professor Treibel has a strong academic track record. He earned a PhD from University College London, has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, and has secured over £10 million in research funding. His work has been recognised with awards such as the British Heart Foundation Intermediate Clinical Fellowship and the British Cardiovascular Society Michael Davies Award, reflecting his contributions to research in aortic valve disease and patient outcomes.
In addition to his clinical and research work, he is an accomplished educator, delivering teaching across a range of settings to varied audiences, including national and international lectures. He also demonstrates strong leadership and management capabilities, having held multiple leadership roles at trust, university, and both national and international organisational levels.
Professor Treibel completed his undergraduate studies at St John’s College, University of Cambridge, and Imperial College London. He undertook his clinical training at several leading London institutions, including the Royal Brompton Hospital, the Heart Hospital, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
