Dr Rossella Barbagallo is a Consultant Cardiologist with specialist expertise in cardiac imaging, including echocardiography and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). Her areas of clinical interest encompass valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias, angina, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and cardiovascular prevention. She graduated with distinction from the University of Catania in Italy, where she also completed her specialist training in cardiology. With more than 15 years of experience as a consultant, Dr Barbagallo is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and is fluent in both English and Italian.

Dr Barbagallo obtained her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Catania in 2003, graduating with top honours. She subsequently undertook postgraduate specialist training in cardiology at the same institution, earning her Diploma of Specialist in Cardiology.

In 2010, she was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her professional achievements were further recognised when she was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2013. In 2017, she received a Level 3 Clinical Excellence Award in recognition of her significant contributions to cardiovascular medicine.

Her clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of a broad spectrum of adult cardiac conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, and cardiac rhythm disorders. She has particular expertise in cardiac imaging, specialising in transthoracic, stress, and transoesophageal echocardiography, as well as cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging.

Dr Barbagallo is an active member of several leading professional organisations, including the Royal College of Physicians, the British Society of Echocardiography, the British Cardiovascular Society, and the European Society of Cardiology. Her commitment to delivering high-quality cardiac care, combined with a patient-centred and compassionate approach, has earned her widespread respect within the cardiology community.
