Dr Rajiv Rampat is a consultant cardiologist working at East Kent University Hospitals NHS Trust, where his practice encompasses both general and interventional cardiology. A central part of his role involves the management of coronary heart disease, and he leads the primary angioplasty service for Kent, providing emergency care for patients presenting with acute heart attacks.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2002 and completed his specialist cardiology training through the South London deanery. Dr Rampat subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training at the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud, where he worked under Dr Chevalier and further developed expertise in interventional cardiology.
Dr Rampat’s clinical work includes coronary stent implantation for angina and myocardial infarction, alongside the assessment and treatment of heart failure and cardiac rhythm disorders. His practice also incorporates advanced cardiac imaging, including cardiac CT, supporting comprehensive cardiovascular evaluation.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Rampat leads cardiovascular research activity in East Kent and serves as principal investigator on a number of national and international clinical trials. He holds an MD in cardiac research and has authored publications in peer-reviewed cardiology journals. He is also a member of the Cardiovascular European Research Centre, contributing to collaborative research efforts in cardiovascular disease.
