Dr Rajiv Rampat is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist currently practicing at East Kent University Hospitals NHS Trust. Dr Rampat specialises in the comprehensive management of coronary heart disease and oversees the primary angioplasty service for Kent, ensuring emergency treatment for individuals diagnosed with heart attacks.
Dr Rampat completed his medical degree at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2002 followed by his specialist cardiology training in the South London deanery. He later undertook a fellowship at the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud, training under the guidance of Dr Chevalier, a globally recognised interventional cardiologist.
Dr Rampat’s expertise spans the spectrum of general and interventional cardiology, specialising in the placement of coronary stents for the treatment of angina and heart attacks. His clinical services include various aspects of cardiology, such as heart failure, arrhythmia management, and advanced imaging techniques like cardiac CT.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Rampat leads cardiovascular research in East Kent, acting as the principal investigator in various national and international cardiac trials. His significant contributions to the field are highlighted by the attainment of an MD in cardiac research and his publications in major peer-reviewed journals in cardiology. He is also a member of the Cardiovascular European Research Centre (CERC), a leading organisation in cardiovascular disease research in Europe.
