Mr Donald Whitaker is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon performing adult cardiac and thoracic surgery with special interests in Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS), internal rib fixation, and the Ravitch repair of pectus excavatum. Mr. Whitaker trained on the South East London programme, which included King's College and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. He also undertook a year of Fellowship training in Halifax, Canada. He attained an MD from the University of Edinburgh in 2006 for research into neuropsychological outcomes after bypass surgery. He has received the Certificate of Completion of Training and is on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Cardiothoracic Surgery. Mr. Whitaker is a member of The Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, The European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His expertise includes thoracic surgery, thoracoscopy or VATS, rib fixation, heart bypass surgery, coronary artery surgery, Ravitch repair, and cardiothoracic trauma.
