About
Mr. Barham Fakouri is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon with extensive experience in spinal surgery. He graduated from medical school at Duesseldorf Germany in 1996 and became a qualified neurosurgeon in 2003 from a teaching hospital of the University of Bonn in Germany. He has completed several spinal fellowship trainings, including one in orthopaedic spinal surgery at the Centre for Spinal Surgery in Nottingham and a fellowship at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He is one of the few spinal surgeons with dual spinal training, orthopaedic and neurosurgical.
Mr. Fakouri was previously a consultant spinal surgeon in Cologne, Germany before being appointed as Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London. He is currently the lead clinician for the department of adult spinal surgery and has developed the cervical spine service. He practices privately at London Bridge Hospital.
Mr. Fakouri's approach to spinal conditions is extremely conservative, non-invasive, or minimally invasive surgery, and he is passionate about new surgical techniques that can minimize the potential risks and complications of spinal interventions and reduce the hospital stay. His areas of interest include cervical disc herniation, cervical spondylotic myelopathy, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, adult spinal deformity, spinal fractures, spinal tumors, spinal infection, and minimally invasive procedures.
Mr. Fakouri is also involved in research and has been published in peer-reviewed spinal journals. He has a keen interest in teaching and training young doctors and future spinal consultants.
