Dr Michael-John (MJ) Devlin is a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in gynaecological cancers, skin cancer and melanoma, and ocular melanoma.
MJ trained in medicine at Queen's University Belfast before completing oncology training across Northern Ireland and London, including fellowships in gynaecological oncology at UCLH and in early-phase trials at the NIHR Clinical Research Facility. He then completed a self-designed PhD at Barts Cancer Institute under Professor Fran Balkwill, mapping the immune microenvironment of clear cell ovarian cancer — work supported by an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship and an ESMO Translational Research Fellowship, later named ESMO's Best Research Fellowship Project. An NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship followed, during which he served as Translational Lead for the PEACOCC trial of pembrolizumab in clear cell gynaecological cancers, published in JAMA Oncology.
MJ is now a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinical Director of Acute Cancer Services at St Bartholomew's Hospital, and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. Alongside his gynaecological oncology practice, he leads the North East London ocular melanoma service delivered jointly with Moorfields Eye Hospital, and manages a broad range of skin cancers.
