Miss Sheila Radhakrishnan works as an NHS Consultant in a London teaching Hospital and has extensive experience of more than 30 years. Her special interests are in menopause, sexual difficulties and complex contraception.

Miss Radhakrishnan's early training was in Kolkata, India, where she attained post graduate qualification in Obsterics and Gynaecology before moving to the UK. Here she underwent further training, attained the membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology before being made a Fellow. Miss Radhakrishnan also holds Fellowship of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Membership of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine.

She is a British Menopause Society Accredited Specialist and Trainer and remains passionate about helping women in their journey through the menopause. Miss Radhakrishnan's approach as with all other areas of her specialism is holistic, keeping the woman at the centre of her care. She also holds membership of the North American Menopause Society and the European Menopause and Andropause Society.

Currently she is the Chair of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine, a branch of medicine whose principles of practice she strongly believes in. It has helped her with her ability to aid women bring their mind and body together when dealing with physical ailments.

Miss Radhakrishnan has lectured extensively in regional, National and International conferences on topics that are close to her heart such Menopause and Psychosexual Medicine. She has published in National and International Journals and has been a contributing author in several medical books.

Her interviews have appeared in The Telegraph newspaper and Women’s Health magazine. A Menopause cafe style virtual meet on zoom in 2021 targeting women in India for education in the Menopause generated a lot of interest. As the aim was to educate and raise awareness of the menopause in India (mainly in Kolkata) she featured in an interview in a local Television show. The cafe was the first of its kind not only in Kolkata but also in India, and as per the Menopause Cafe one of the first cafes in India to register with them.

Miss Radhakrishnan has also appeared in a podcast on BBC radio 4 regarding her stance on Abortion as she happens to be a proud Doctor for choice.

She remains committed to further educating not just women but men too in the menopause and believes it needs to start early in life.

Miss Radhakrishnan has undertaken workplace based initiatives in her trust around menopause awareness and has also been invited to deliver similar talk to a corporate group. Besides this, sex education and normalising it is another area she feels strongly about.
