Professor Neil Shah is a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist who worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital for over 18 years and is a Professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. He also previously worked at St Thomas’ Hospital as a gastrointestinal allergy specialist within the joint complex allergy clinic. With over 20 years of experience in paediatric gastroenterology, he has developed extensive expertise across a wide range of paediatric gastrointestinal conditions.
He is actively involved in the development of national and international guidelines for the identification and treatment of reflux, milk allergy, and gastrointestinal food allergies, encountering these conditions both professionally and in everyday life.
He has published over 200 articles, including many focused on milk allergy, abdominal pain, and constipation, and leads a research study group on GI food allergy known as the Burden Project.
Beyond food allergy, his international work has included leading a national service for infants with severe inflammatory bowel disease, including cases requiring curative bone marrow transplants, caring for some of the most critically ill children from around the world.
