He has collaborated with international partners on studies that helped define community pathways for COVID-19, including Management of post-acute COVID-19 in primary careand Remote management of COVID-19 using home pulse oximetry and virtual ward support— both widely cited worldwide.

Dr Knight continues to lead and contribute to studies exploring novel diagnostics, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), and digital-first respiratory care models to improve patient outcomes and healthcare sustainability.

Dr Knight qualified from University College London (2005) and completed specialty training in respiratory medicine across the North West Thames scheme, with rotations at leading centres including the Royal Brompton, Hammersmith, Royal Free, Harefield, and others. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy Medicine from Imperial College London. In his NHS role, Dr Knight leads the complex asthma and unexplained breathlessness service at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, alongside clinics in sleep apnoea and bronchiectasis / recurrent chest infections. He also serves as Chief Medical Officer at Medefer, where he supports digital health and remote monitoring initiatives.

Dr Knight is actively engaged in research, with publications in areas such as long COVID, remote care models, and respiratory diagnostics. He was awarded an MBE for his pioneering work in virtual hospital care during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also committed to education, having contributed to the training of junior doctors locally and also works as an Associate Postgraduate Dean and NHS England Education.

Dr Knight believes in a patient-centred, collaborative approach. He aims to listen attentively to each patient’s experience, to explain diagnostic options clearly, and to codevelop tailored treatment plans. Wherever possible, he integrates technology, objective testing and multidisciplinary care to provide optimal outcomes. He works closely with physiologists, cardiologists, physiotherapists, radiologists, thoracic surgeons, and allergy specialists to ensure comprehensive care.
