Professor Mark Westwood is a Cardiologist currently based at the private practices 120 Old Broad Street and London Bridge Hospital. His current post is St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. His areas of specialism are cardiac CT/MRI. His areas of interest include chest pain, shortness of breath and palpitations and cardio-oncology. He is the current president of the British Society of Cardiac MRI, the UK's national representative body for cardiac MRI. He is also the vice president for training and education in cardiology in the UK.
Professor Westwood completed an MA at St John’s College, Oxford in 1994 and qualified in Medicine at St Bartholomew’s and London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1997, with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees. In 2005 he completed a Doctorate of Medicine at Imperial College London. He is currently the Director of Medical Education at Barts Heart Centre, responsible for the training and education of junior medical staff. He is also the Training Programme Director for Cardiology for the North East Thames region in London.
In addition, Professor Westwood is interested in research regarding cardiac MRI and offers courses to GPs.
