About

Dr Deepak Joshi is a Consultant Hepatologist based at the Institute of Liver Studies at King’s College Hospital and Guthrie Clinic. He completed his medical degree at King’s College in 2001 before undertaking specialist hepatology training at the Institute of Liver Studies, where he later earned a PhD focused on identifying predictors of fibrosis following liver transplantation.

While training at University College London Hospitals, Dr Joshi gained advanced experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including ERCP, across both adult and paediatric services. At King’s College Hospital, he holds key leadership roles as Adult Lead for Liver Transition Services and Clinical Lead for Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Medicine.

His clinical practice centres on complex liver conditions, with particular expertise in chronic and acute liver disease, cirrhosis, liver transplantation, biliary disorders, and pancreatic disease. He provides comprehensive assessment and management for a wide spectrum of hepatology-related conditions.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Joshi remains actively involved in research and academic medicine. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is a co-author of Hepatology at a Glance. He also serves as a Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London, supporting medical education alongside his specialist practice.

It is important that HCA is transparent about our relationship with those doctors who provide us with clinical guidance on delivering the best possible care to patients and operating our hospitals safely and efficiently. We set out here some of the ways in which we work together and the amount we pay this doctor for such services.
