Dr. Daniel Smith is a consultant clinical oncologist specializing in the treatment of thoracic and breast cancers, including lung cancer, breast cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic tumors. He also delivers immediate post-operative radiotherapy for benign conditions such as heterotopic ossification (HO) and pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS). He focuses on high precision techniques including 3D and 4D conformal image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). Dr. Smith is the Lead Clinician for Lung Cancer and the Clinical Governance Lead for the Oncology Directorate. He has published papers in international journals on IMRT and the incorporation of nuclear medicine and is an investigator in several active clinical trials. He gained a First Class degree at the University of Cambridge and completed medical training at University College London Medical School.
