Mr Said Abisi is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He also sees private patients at London Bridge Hospital, the Harley Street Clinic and KIMS Hospital in Kent.
His clinical practice covers the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of vascular disorders, with a particular focus on modern minimally invasive and endovascular techniques. He regularly manages conditions including varicose veins, peripheral arterial disease, intermittent claudication, carotid artery disease and aortic aneurysms. He has developed a particular expertise in the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms and advanced endovascular procedures, including fenestrated and branched endovascular aortic repair (FEVAR and BEVAR).
Mr Abisi undertook his specialist vascular surgical training in Nottingham and London. In 2012, he was awarded the Cook/Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland Fellowship, through which he gained further specialist experience in complex aortic interventions. His academic qualifications include a Master of Surgery (MS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP), both from King’s College London. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Abisi has an established academic and research profile. He has published extensively in the field of vascular surgery, with his research interests particularly centred on complex aortic conditions and the development and use of minimally invasive techniques for aortic repair.
Mr Abisi takes a patient-focused approach to treatment, carefully considering each individual's condition and circumstances when recommending the most appropriate management strategy. Where suitable, he aims to use the least invasive and safest treatment available. His expertise in catheter-based and endovascular procedures means that many patients can be treated without the need for traditional open surgery, potentially resulting in shorter recovery times.
Away from his medical career, Mr Abisi has a strong interest in cycling and sport. He particularly enjoys following international cycling events such as the Tour de France and values the enthusiasm, drive and motivation that sport brings to both his personal life and professional outlook.
