Marco Bolgeri

Mr Marco Bolgeri is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Prostate Centre. Led by world-renowned experts in men’s health and uro-oncology, The Prostate Centre is dedicated to providing innovative and evidence-based care for bladder diseases, prostate problems and urological cancers. Mr Bolgeri’s special interests are in the management of urinary stone disease and complex endourology. Throughout his career, Mr Bolgeri has performed over 300 percutaneous renal stone operations and over 2,500 ureteroscopic operations. 

Mr Bolgeri graduated from the University of Udine, his hometown in Italy, before moving to the UK in 2006. Here, he completed his postgraduate training, specialising in urology on the London South Thames Programme. During his training, Mr Bolgeri developed his interest in stone disease and complex endourology while working in tertiary referral centres including St George’s University Hospital and University College London Hospital, where he completed his postCCT Fellowship in stones and endourology, which allowed him to acquire advanced skills in minimally invasive stone treatment and management of ureteric strictures. He has held a substantive consultant position at St George’s University Hospital since 2016, leading the Stone and Endourology Team since 2020, and became Clinical Lead for the Urology Department in 2024.

Alongside clinical practice, Mr Bolgeri has a research interest in urinary stone disease. He has been involved with patient recruitment onto a number of clinical trials researching new kidney stone treatments. He also completed a master’s degree in urology at University College London, researching novel biomarkers of renal injury in patients with ureteric stones. 

Mr Bolgeri is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons since 2013 and of the European Board of Urology since 2014, as well as a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons.
