Dr Jonathan Krell is a Consultant Oncologist with specialist expertise in breast and gynaecological cancers, with a strong focus on cancer genetics and inherited malignancies, including BRCA and other gene mutations. His clinical practice centres on systemic cancer treatments for patients with breast and gynaecological cancers.
He studied medicine at Leeds University Medical School, where he also achieved a first-class honours degree in Pharmacology. Following graduation, Dr Krell completed junior medical posts at St James’ Hospital in Leeds and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, before undertaking specialist oncology training at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals.
His doctoral research, supported by the Medical Research Council, explored how genetic alterations and DNA damage influence responses to cancer therapies. He is now a key contributor to translational research programmes within the Cancer Research UK and Ovarian Cancer Action centres at Imperial College, where his work focuses on tackling resistance to existing treatments in ovarian and breast cancer.
Dr Krell has authored more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is a regular speaker at national and international scientific meetings, sharing developments in cancer genetics and systemic oncology care.
