Our expert radiologists and doctors work together to assess your condition accurately and quickly – that means blood test results in as little as 30 minutes and imaging scan reports typically within the hour.
If you do need a scan or test, we’ll explain everything clearly, including costs, before going ahead. And if you need further treatment, we can arrange fast referrals to leading specialists within the HCA UK network.

How much will it cost?
When it comes to pricing for urgent care, we believe transparency is key.
While we ask that all initial consultations are paid for upfront, we’ll give you receipts so you can claim it back from your private medical or travel insurance company if necessary.
Should you need further care via a consultant referral, we’ll explain the cost of that care to you in full before anything happens. If you have private medical insurance, you’ll need to check in with your medical provider to make sure you’re covered for this treatment.

Urgent care for children
Our Urgent Care Centre for Children is the only facility of its kind in the UK. Based at The Portland Hospital, the UK’s only private hospital dedicated to the care of women and children, the centre is dedicated to providing timely medical attention and specialist care to all children from newborns to 17-year-olds.
You’ll need an appointment, which you can book below, each one costs £185.

Urgent Care Centre FAQs
No, they’re not the same. Urgent Care Centres are designed to treat minor injuries and illnesses that require immediate attention but aren’t life-threatening. These include sprains, broken bones, minor head injuries, minor cuts and burns, ear or throat infections, and urinary tract infections. For life-threatening conditions like heart attacks or strokes, you should contact 999 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
For adults, we offer a walk-in service, with no appointment necessary.

For adults, the initial consultation fee is £130, which we ask you to pay upfront. Additional charges for treatments or tests will be discussed with you beforehand. Some example prices include:
- Dressing change: £69

We’ll give you receipts so you can make claims with private medical or travel insurance. If further treatment is needed, those costs will be explained, and you can seek authorisation from your insurer.
We aim to triage patients within 15 minutes** of arrival. Patients are seen in order of arrival unless someone presents with a more urgent clinical need. After registration, a nurse will assess you, manage your pain, and organise any necessary tests. You’ll then be seen by an urgent care doctor who can order further tests if required.
Urgent Care Centres do not handle life-threatening emergencies. If you suspect a heart attack, stroke, or severe trauma, call 999 immediately. In addition to this, we also do not treat:
- Mental health crises, such as acute confusion
- Severe trauma
- Pregnancy-related issues beyond 20 weeks or severe pain and bleeding at any point in pregnancy
- Overdose or toxic substance exposure
- Severe burns
Most patients (96.2%) are treated on their first visit. If you need ongoing care, we have a network of on-call consultants across multiple specialties. If you do need additional tests or treatment we’ll explain all costs to you in advance so you can speak to your insurance provider to get pre-authorisation. Self-pay options are also available.
We have pharmacy departments at all our main hospitals and outpatient clinics. Prescriptions can be filled out onsite or at your local pharmacy if that’s easier.
