COSMETIC OR RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY
If you need cosmetic or reconstructive procedures, HCA UK provides aesthetic plastic surgery.
Aesthetic plastic surgery (or cosmetic surgery or reconstructive surgery) involves procedures that can improve the appearance or restore the function of a certain part of your body.
Cosmetic surgery is focused on improving the aesthetic appeal and reconstructive surgery is carried out after a serious injury, birth defect or illness.
Your consultant will take the time to understand your motivations for aesthetic plastic surgery. They will talk to you about what to expect during the procedure, which will use minimally invasive surgical techniques to achieve natural results with minimal scarring. Most aesthetic plastic surgery procedures are major operations, and so will be carried out under general anaesthetic. Examples of cosmetic surgery include breast enlargement, breast lift, breast reduction, ear pinning, facelift, liposuction and nose reshaping. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial surgery, dupuytren’s fasciectomy and trigger finger release.
Aesthetic plastic surgery is generally very safe. However, as with any surgery, there are some risks and side effects involved. Your consultant will explain these to you and answer any questions you might have. After aesthetic plastic surgery, the areas will be closed with stitches or staples. We will let you know in advance how long to avoid eating and drinking before your surgery.
After the procedure, you will be taken to the recovery unit, where our dedicated team will look after you. You will probably be sore and bruised, and you will be given pain relief medication if needed. Some aesthetic plastic surgery are performed as day cases. You may be able to go home after one day, or you may need to stay in hospital overnight. Your consultant or specialist nurse will let you know when you can leave the hospital. You will be advised on how to manage your recovery and when you can get back to your usual daily routines.
