The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at The Princess Grace Hospital is conveniently located in central London at 42-52 Nottingham Place, London, W1U 5NY. You can reach us by taking the tube to Baker Street station, which is just a five-minute walk away. You can also get to us by car and the hospital has a dedicated drop-off point.

How much will it cost?

It’s important to us that our urgent care pricing is clear and easy to understand. You’ll be asked to pay for your initial consultation at the time of your visit, and we can give you a receipt to help you claim the cost back through your private medical or travel insurance.

If you need a referral to a consultant, we’ll make sure that you’re fully aware of any additional costs before moving forward. If you’re using private health insurance, it’s best to check with your provider to confirm your level of cover before visiting us.

What is an Urgent Care Centre?

An urgent care centre is a medical facility that treats non-life-threatening conditions that require prompt attention but don't need a visit to A&E. At The Princess Grace Hospital, we offer fast, expert care for adults with a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries, without having to visit an emergency department or wait for a GP appointment.

Is there anything your Urgent Care Centre does not treat?

We don’t treat life-threatening emergencies. If you suspect a heart attack, stroke, or severe trauma, call 999 immediately. In addition to this, we do not treat:

Mental health crises, such as acute confusion
Overdose or toxic substance exposure
Pregnancy-related issues beyond 20 weeks or severe pain and bleeding at any point in pregnancy
Severe burns
Severe trauma

Do I need to book an appointment, or can I walk in?

You can walk in without a booking. We also offer same-day appointments if you’d prefer to schedule your visit in advance.

What are the wait times at The Princess Grace Hospital’s Urgent Care Centre?

We aim to triage patients within 15 minutes* of arrival. You’ll be seen in order of your arrival unless someone presents with a more urgent clinical need.

*An average of 95.8% people were seen within 15 minutes from July 2024 to June 2025.

Do you treat sports injuries?

Yes, we provide expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of sports-related injuries, including sprains, strains, and fractures. Our on-site X-ray service helps us quickly diagnose the issue and if specialist input is needed, we can refer you directly to our orthopaedic or sports medicine consultants for ongoing care.

Can I get stitches or wound care?

Yes, our team can treat minor wounds, cuts, abrasions and superficial burns. If you need, we can provide stitches and ensure proper wound care to support healing while reducing the risk of infection.

Do I need to be registered with a GP?

No, you don’t need to be registered with a GP to use our urgent care service. Adults over 18 are welcome to attend without referral. If you choose to provide your GP’s details, we can send them a summary of your visit for continuity of care.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member for support. Please note that during busy periods, we may need to limit the number of visitors to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all our patients.

What if I need further treatment?

Most patients (96.2%) are treated on their first visit. If you need ongoing care, we have a network of on-call consultants across multiple specialties. If you do need additional tests or treatment, we’ll explain all costs to you in advance so you can speak to your insurance provider to get pre-authorisation. Self-pay options are also available.

Is there a pharmacy on site?

We have pharmacy departments at all our main hospitals and outpatient clinics. Prescriptions can be filled out onsite or at your local pharmacy if that’s easier.
