At your first outpatient appointment, you will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and any prior test results with your consultant urologist. Your consultant may perform a physical examination and recommend further investigations, such as blood tests, urine analysis, or imaging.

Follow-up investigations
Your consultant may arrange specialist diagnostic procedures like a cystoscopy or urodynamic studies. A follow-up appointment is usually scheduled to discuss the results and confirm a diagnosis.

Treatment planning and management
Your consultant will discuss treatment options, which may include lifestyle changes, medication, or surgical intervention. Treatment can often be managed on an outpatient basis, but if surgery is required, depending on the complexity, you may be scheduled for a day-case procedure or inpatient admission.
