Heart failure is a cardiac condition where your heart is unable to pump enough blood around your body. There are different levels of severity, with different treatment options available.
Less invasive, minimal access surgical technique for mitral and aortic valves, it can be an alternative for open heart surgery (sternotomy). The technique provides more options for patients and can help them achieve a better quality of life more quickly, along with less pain and scarring.

01
Initial consultation
On your first visit, you’ll see one of our expert cardiac and thoracic consultants. They’ll review your symptoms and your medical history, including any pre-existing issues or surgical interventions you’ve had. They’ll also arrange any necessary tests and scans, some of which may be able to happen that same day.
02
Tests, scans and medical monitoring
Our consultants will use the latest tests and scans to form a diagnosis and suggest the best treatment pathways or the medical management of your cardiac condition, should that be required. Your consultant will discuss your results with you on the same day as your initial consultation if they’re available, or at a follow up appointment.
We can also fit implantable devices such as pacemakers on a subsequent visit. These can help to monitor inherited conditions.
03
Treatment
Based on your test results your consultant will recommend the best treatment options available to you, which might include:
An interventional cardiac procedure: We can perform minimally invasive procedures such as angioplasty (stents) and ablation, unblocking arteries or inserting aortic valves through arteries in your groin or arm.
Cardiac surgery: We offer a wide range of procedures for cardiac valve, vessel or structural repairs using minimally invasive access techniques through smaller incisions often between your ribs, or by open sternotomy if that will deliver the best result.
04
Ongoing and post-operative care
Cardiac and thoracic surgeries can range from a small procedure to a major intervention. In every case, you’ll receive skilled post-operative support, tailored follow-up care and ongoing monitoring from our skilled, multi-disciplinary teams. We’re here for you.

“Professor Doshi discussed my case with heart surgeons and due to my particular set of circumstances decided open-heart surgery would have been too dangerous for me, so instead, I was offered a TAVI procedure… The best way I can describe it is like someone flicking a switch. From not being able to do anything to feeling so much better - the difference was amazing!”
