Dr Mohammed has been a consultant clinical oncologist at Charing Cross Hospital since 2020, where he introduced, developed, and established the SABR radiotherapy service. He is a member of The Royal College of Physicians in London and a Fellow of The Royal College of Radiologists.
Dr. Waleed Mohammed is a consultant clinical oncologist with an extensive background in genetics, bioscience, and clinical medicine.
Dr. Mohammed began his career as a bio-scientist, focusing on genetics at the University of Cambridge, and later earned an MSc in Biology from the University of Oxford. His early research explored genetics and early mouse embryo development, as well as lysosomal storage disorders and prion diseases, with a particular emphasis on drug development.
Transitioning to the pharmaceutical industry, he worked at Oxford Science Park and the MRC Prion Unit at Queen Square, University College London.
Dr. Mohammed then pursued a medical career through the Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine, specializing in clinical oncology. His specialist registrar training took place at renowned institutions such as Imperial College NHS Trust, The Royal Marsden Hospital, and The Royal Sussex County Hospital. He became a consultant clinical oncologist at Charing Cross Hospital in 2020, where he introduced and established the Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) service.
He is a member of The Royal College of Physicians (London) and a Fellow of The Royal College of Radiologists, recognized with the New Fellows Speaker award.
Dr. Mohammed's clinical expertise includes treating both primary and secondary thoracic cancers (such as NSCLC, SCLC, LCNET, mesothelioma, and thymic cancers) and CNS cancers (including LGG, HGG, meningioma, ependymoma, medulloblastoma, pituitary tumors, pineal tumors, and intra-cranial germ cell tumors). He administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and oral TKIs, and provides various forms of radiotherapy, including SRS, Gamma Knife, and SABR/SBRT. Additionally, he is trained in Optune Therapy and MR-Linac.
