Dr Vinit Sawhney is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist who completed her medical degree at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, India in 2004. She moved to the UK and completed her specialist training in Cardiology at a number of London's top teaching hospitals, including North Middlesex University Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital. She then undertook research surrounding ventricular arrhythmias and telomere biology at Queen Mary University of London and was awarded a MD for her work in 2013. Dr Sawhney entered the specialist register as a Cardiologist in 2018. After receiving her CCT, she completed a post-CCT fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease at St Bartholomew's Hospital in 2019 and was appointed as a Locum Consultant at the hospital in the same year.
Dr Sawhney specialises in Adult Congenital Disease and is the current Electrophysiology Governance Lead at the Barts Heart Centre. Outside of her clinical work, Dr Sawhney is an active researcher with current research interests in ablation strategies and mapping in adult congenital heart disease patients, as well as the use of telomere biology for risk stratification of arrhythmias.
