Vijayan Suresh

Dr Vijay Suresh is a Consultant in Renal and Internal Medicine at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, with over 19 years of experience in consultant practice and more than 25 years caring for patients. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of kidney-related conditions, including chronic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerulonephritis, acute kidney injury, onco-nephrology, complex urinary tract infections, renal stone disease, and haemodialysis. He also has extensive experience supporting patients undergoing dialysis and following kidney transplantation, helping them manage their condition and maintain the best possible quality of life.

Since 2007, Dr Suresh has led the Solihull satellite dialysis unit, where he has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Under his leadership, the unit has consistently achieved excellent clinical outcomes and received very positive feedback from patients. In recognition of his commitment to patient care, he was nominated by local patients and shortlisted as a finalist for the Solihull Health Professional of the Year Award in 2016.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Suresh is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham and is actively involved in medical education. He teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students, serves as a Senior Academy Tutor for fourth-year medical students, and contributes to assessments as both an undergraduate examiner and an MRCP examiner for the Royal College of Physicians. He is committed to providing compassionate, personalised care, working closely with patients to ensure they understand their condition and treatment options so they can make informed decisions about their health.
