Dr Vasileios Chortis is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He graduated with Distinction in Medicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2008. He completed specialist training in Endocrinology and Diabetes at University Hospitals Birmingham and was appointed as a Consultant in 2020. He was awarded a PhD in Endocrinology from the University of Birmingham in 2017 for research in adrenal endocrinology.

Between 2021 and 2024, he undertook further research training as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital in the United States. His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of endocrine conditions, including adrenal disorders, thyroid disease, reproductive endocrinology, polycystic ovary syndrome and pituitary disorders. He holds an academic position as Clinical Associate Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Birmingham. His research interests focus on adrenal endocrinology and endocrine oncology, and he has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. His research has received funding from organisations including the Wellcome Trust, the Academy of Medical Sciences and Harvard Medical School.

Dr Chortis has received research awards from the Society for Endocrinology (UK), the Endocrine Society (US) and the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumours. He is also involved in undergraduate medical education at the University of Birmingham, teaching across areas including adrenal and thyroid endocrinology, bone disorders, reproductive endocrinology and diabetes mellitus.
