Mr Stephanos Pericleous is currently a consultant surgeon and a member of the hepatopancreatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation team at the Royal Free Hospital. His expertise lies in managing a range of general surgical conditions, as well as diseases affecting the liver and pancreas. This includes abdominal wall hernias, gallstone disease, primary and secondary cancers of the liver and biliary tree, gallbladder and pancreatic cancer, and retroperitoneal sarcomas.
Mr Pericleous graduated from University College London Medical School and completed his surgical training mainly in hospitals across London. Mr Pericleous post-specialty fellowships were undertaken at the Royal Free Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. He completed his research at Barts and The London Medical School and Imperial College London on the proteomic analysis of cholangiocarcinoma, leading to a research Doctorate in Medicine awarded by the University of London.
Mr Pericleous also has performed hundreds of hernia repairs and gallbladder operations, as well as more complex abdominal, sarcoma-related, and hepatopancreaticobiliary surgical procedures. As part of the Royal Free Hospital HPB unit (one of the largest such departments in the UK), he frequently manages complex liver, gallbladder, pancreas and sarcoma cases that are referred to this unit from surrounding hospitals in London, the rest of the UK, and from abroad.
