Mr Scott Evans is a consultant orthopaedic and oncology surgeon with specialist expertise in musculoskeletal tumour surgery and complex limb reconstruction. He was appointed to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 2017, where he works within a large tertiary referral unit providing care to patients from across the UK and internationally.
His postgraduate surgical training was completed through the Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme. Following this, he undertook two highly competitive fellowship posts with a focus on sarcoma surgery and complex limb reconstruction, training at both the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and the Birmingham Bone Tumour Service. This advanced fellowship experience underpins his specialist clinical practice in orthopaedic oncology.
Mr Evans’ surgical work centres on the resection of musculoskeletal tumours and the reconstruction of complex limb defects. Alongside oncology surgery, his practice includes primary and complex joint replacement procedures, as well as revision arthroplasty for patients requiring further reconstructive intervention.
In addition to his clinical role, Mr Evans is actively involved in medical education. He holds the position of honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham, where he teaches undergraduate medical students, examines clinical assessments and supervises both general practice and orthopaedic trainees. His educational responsibilities also include acting as a registrar appraiser and contributing as invited faculty on higher surgical training courses. In 2024, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Undergraduate Academy at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
Mr Evans has a strong academic interest in advancing evidence-based orthopaedic care. He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to multiple book chapters, with research interests focused on joint replacement and tumour surgery. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings.
