Dr. Samuel Walker is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist based in the West Midlands. Graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2011, Dr. Walker completed foundation medical/surgical rotations within the Royal Free London group of hospitals before pursuing specialist radiology training within the West Midlands Postgraduate School of Radiology.
During his time as a Senior Registrar, Dr. Walker underwent subspecialist training in advanced Interventional Radiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He boasts a comprehensive NHS practice, encompassing cancer intervention (such as tumour embolisation and thermal ablation), embolotherapy for benign conditions (including uterine fibroids and prostate hyperplasia), image-guided diagnostics, vascular access, and general medical imaging. Outside of the NHS, Dr. Walker's practice focuses on delivering vascular access services and palliative/diagnostic interventions for private oncology patients.
Driven by a passion for medical education, Dr. Walker has pursued an associated postgraduate qualification and has shared his expertise internationally, both as a trainee and as a consultant, covering a wide array of topics within clinical radiology. He also collaborates closely with medical industry colleagues in the design and evaluation of new devices and interventional treatments.
Dr. Walker's educational background includes a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Professions Education from UCL and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS) from the University of Nottingham. Prior to his medical studies, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, during which he conducted pre-clinical medical education and laboratory-based research into endothelial dysfunction of the placental vasculature. Dr. Walker is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in Clinical Radiology, completing this qualification in 2016.
